Amaravati, Sept.21 (NSS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said he would give utmost priority to protect the sanctity of temples and the sentiments of the devotees. Stating that every religion has certain traditions and customs, he said the State government needs to protect them.
The Chief Minister, who went to the TDP central office to receive representations from the visitors, interacted with the media persons for some time. He explained his views on the Tirumala Srivari Laddu issue and the steps to be taken by his government. CM Chandrababu said, “Many malpractices took place in temples during the tenure of the previous government. If the head of Rama’s idol was removed in Ramatheertham, there was no action against the accused. There was hardly any wrong that the then State government did not commit. They played with the sentiment of the people. People’s sentiments were not valued. Polavaram and Amaravati have been destroyed. Those who questioned them faced retaliations,” he alleged.
He alleged that the YSRCP leaders had committed crimes. Stating that every religion has certain customs and traditions, Naidu said they should be respected by everyone. Many people have tried to do better than Srivari Laddu. But it was not possible. Srivari Laddu has been made there for hundreds of years. Even in Ayodhya, they tried to make laddus like Tirumala. From here the workers were taken away. But it was not possible. They told me this there. It is such a great gift.
In the past, YS Jagan had said there were not seven hills, but two hills. Then we opposed it. We fought. If we want to build Srivari temple at Amaravati at a cost of Rs 250 crore, it has been reduced. Quality tests of prasadams and necessary samprokshana programmes will be carried out in all the temples in the State,” the CM said.
He said they were ensuring speedy relief to flood victims in many areas, including Vijayawada. The Chief Minister said financial assistance was being provided to the flood victims from a humanitarian angle.
