Railways recruited five lakh employees during 2014-24 decade

Hyderabad, Nov.30 (NSS)Indian Railways has recruited five lakh employees during the period of 2014-24, while during previous decade i.e., 2004-2014 it was only four lakh employees which is 25% more than the last decade employment.

First time in the history of Indian Railways, employment calendar has been published. All vacancy notifications were issued as per the scheduled. Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) vacancies as per the calendar plan had been published for 18,799 posts in February 2024. ALP examination for  the recruitment were conducted during five days across the states in November 2024. Examination was conducted in 29 States, 156 cities, 346 centers and in three shifts.

2,22, 498 candidates appeared for the examination on November 25, 2024; 2,26920 candidates appeared for the examination on November 26, 2024; 2,30,273 candidates appeared for the examination on November 27, 2024; 2,30,518 candidates appeared for the examination on November 28, 2024; 2,30,722 candidates appeared for the examination on November 29, 2024.

Totally 18.4 lakh youths applied for 18,700 vacancies out of which 11.4 lakh candidates appeared in the examinations. The total turnup for the examination was around 62 percent.

The candidates undergone Computer based test (CBT) examinations conducted under strict supervision. Also, for authenticity of candidates, Aadhar identification verification of 92 percent candidates had been done.
