Hyderabad, Sept.24 (NSS): The opposition YSRCP today received a big blow in state politics . The party’s Rajya Sabha MP R. Krishnaiah resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar on Monday. The Rajya Sabha Chairman on Tuesday accepted Krishnaiah’s resignation.
Krishnaiah resigned although he still had four years Rajya Sabha term. Recently, YSRCP MPs Bida Masthan Rao and Mopidevi Venkataramana had also resigned from their Rajya Sabha seats .
There are a total of 11 seats in the Rajya Sabha for the state. After the YSRCP came to power in the state in 2019, the YSRCP won all the 11 seats in the elections held in three phases. It is the fourth largest party in the Rajya Sabha in terms of numbers. ”
After the YSRCP’s debacle in the 2024 general elections, migration of leaders from the party started. Many MPs and MLCs who patiently remained in the party despite insults and difficulties are now leaving the YSRCP.
With the resignation of R Krishnaiah, the strength of YSRCP in rajya sabha has come down to 8.
