
Hyderabad, Sept.17 (NSS): Rani Kumudini, a retired IAS officer, has been appointed as State Election Commissioner. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has issued an order in this regard. Till now, retired IAS officer Parthasarathy has remained in that post of the SEC. The government appointed Rani Kumudi as his term ended recently.
Kumudini, a 1988-batch IAS officer, served in various capacities in the Central and State governments. After the Central services, she took charge as special chief secretary of Telangana State Labour department. She retired before the 2023 elections. Parthasarathy’s tenure as the SEC ended on the 8th of this month. As a result, the Congress government appointed Rani Kumudi as the SEC. She will continue as the SEC for three years, the order of the Governor said.
The appointment of the new SEC assumes significance in the wake of the local body elections. On the other hand, retired IAS officer M G Gopal has been appointed as the State Vigilance Commissioner by the State government. Gopal, a 1983-batch IAS officer, had served in various capacities in the Union and Telangana State. Now, he has been appointed as the State Vigilance Commissioner for three years.
