Record level of paddy yield in Telangana without support of Kaleswaram project : Bhatti

Hyderabad, Nov.19 (NSS): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said paddy yield in Telangana reached record level this year without depending on Kaleswaram lift irrigation project, thanks to the multi- purpose projects constructed by the then Congress rulers with foresight.

The Deputy Chief Minister was the chief guest at the presentation function of Indira Gandhi agricultural merit awards held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally here under the aegis of PCC to mark the celebration of People’s governance  (Praja Palana) on Tuesday. Awards were presented to model farmers and scientists on the occasion.  He also released three book Indira- India’s heart beat  in the function.

Later addressing the farmers in the meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka said that what Congress leaders had said when they were in the opposition that the BRS was indulging in false propaganda that paddy cultivation had increased in Telangna due to Kaleswaram project has been proved today.

Though Medigetta barrage under Kaleswaram LI project had sunk and there was no way water could be stored in Annaram and Sundilla barrages, this year paddy yield has increased due to Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam, Jurala, Nettermpadu, Koyila, Kalwakurthy LI projects on River Krishna and SRSP, Devadula, Sripada Yellampally and other multipurpose projects on Godavari constructed by the then Congress rulers to provide irrigation facility to agricultural lands, he pointed out.

The BRS rulers, who were in power for 10 years, did not pay crop loss compensation to farmers and it also did not implement crop insurance scheme. But, the Congress government is implementing both schemes, Bhatti pointed out.

He further stated that the Congress government also restored mechanisation of agriculture, polyhouse, distribution of seeds on subsidy and other schemes forgotten by the previous BRS government.

Bhatti called upon the party cadre to publicise the welfare and development schemes being implemented by the People’s government for the benefit of farmers and take them to the notice of each and every farmer.

The meeting was attended by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Agriculture Commission Chairman Kodanda Reddy and others.
