
Hyderabad, Oct.29 (NSS): BRS party working president KT Rama Rao today said there should be a State-wide celebrations to celebrate the rejection of the proposal to hike the electricity charges in Telangana by the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC). He said the celebrations should be held as a sign of victory for stopping the burden of Rs 18,500 crore on the people of the State. He called upon the BRS party cadres to hold the celebrations in the district headquarters and assembly constituencies of the State.
KTR said the State government had made proposals to increase the electricity charges by Rs 18,500 crore within 10 months and added that as the main Opposition party, they opposed the imposition of the electricity burden on the people. He said he participated in a public hearing and convinced the ERC on the issue. He also said the ERC recognised the reasonableness and justice of their argument as the main Opposition party and rejected the proposal to hike the electricity charges.
On behalf of the people of Telangana, KTR expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the ERC Chairman Ranga Rao and members Manohar Raju and Krishnaiah for rejecting the power tariff proposals. KTR tweeted in this regard. “In three public hearings held in Hyderabad, Nizamabad and Sircilla, we strongly opposed the imposition of an additional burden of Rs 18,500 crore on the people. This is the victory of the people of Telangana,” KTR said.
