Revanth Reddy guilty in people’s court: Sravan Dasoju

Hyderabad, Oct.9 (NSS)Dr Sravan Dasoju has written an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressing his disappointment and accused the latter of proving his incompetence in governance. Though it’s a positive step that, after intervention by the Telangana High Court, the government had decided to conduct surveys on lakes before taking action, it’s unfortunate that this realization came too late.

Dr Dasoju questioned as to why this consideration wasn’t shown before demolishing people’s homes under the guise of the “Hydra” project. Without any survey, the destruction of houses by Revanth Reddy is deemed a grave error. He held the Chief Minister accountable for the sufferings of the residents, who lost their homes and questioned who will deliver justice to the family of Buchamma from Kukatpally, who allegedly took her own life due to the fear and distress caused by the demolitions.

Dr Dasoju said despite any attempts by Revanth Reddy to escape responsibility, he remains a criminal in the people’s court for the injustices caused by his reckless actions. Demolishing homes, disregarding people’s rights, and ignoring the pleas of the common man are unacceptable in a democratic society.

He reminded that even leaders like late Indira Gandhi prioritized fundamental needs like food, clothing, and shelter, while Revanth Reddy seems to have turned Telangana into a State run by bulldozers, much like the governance style of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Dasoju also denounced Revanth Reddy’s double standards — while sparing the affluent, he targeted the poor and middle-class families by demolishing their homes without prior notice, demonstrating an anti-people attitude.

Dr Dasoju demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy provide compensation to all those who lost their homes and properties during the demolitions, according to the 2013 Land Acquisition Act introduced by the UPA government. He also demanded that the CM ensure detailed survey of each lake’s catchment area, buffer zone, and full-tank level using advanced technologies like satellite imagery, LiDAR, and drones. Formulate a transparent policy for lake restoration and beautification in consultation with experts, public representatives, and Resident Welfare Associations.

The BRS leader also demanded that the government establish committees involving local representatives and Resident Welfare Associations to ensure the long-term protection and maintenance of lakes, holding them accountable for their preservation. He said if Revanth Reddy truly regrets his mistakes, he should acknowledge them and compensate those affected by his actions. Power is not permanent, but the impact one creates on people’s lives is. He urged Revanth Reddy to act with humanity and rectify his mistakes with sincerity and a sense of duty.

Dr Sravan Dasoju extended his heartfelt wishes to all the citizens and their families for a joyous Navaratri and Dussehra festival.
