Revanth’s govt killed 16 activists in the name of encounters

Hyderabad, Dec.4 (NSS): Civil rights leader Prof. G. Haragopal today said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy should not take away the right to life guaranteed by the Indian Constitution to its citizens. He demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into all the encounters that took place during the tenure of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government.

He alleged that one encounter was carried out by the Congress government within a year of coming to power. “Encounters are being carried out to hand over the mineral wealth of the forest to the corporates. He said the encounters were stopped due to opposition from the people after the Shruti Sagar encounter during the BRS regime. Hara Gopal said the Telangana community should respond to the Mulugu encounter just as it reacted to the Shruti Sagar encounter and added that it would prevent the fake encounters.

Addressing media persons at NSS, Hyderguda on Wednesday, Prof. G. Haragopal, along with Madhu’s associate Meena, alleged  that those killed in the Mulugu encounter on December 1 were tortured and brutally murdered by poisoning in rice. “The same is true, as can be seen from the dead bodies of the encounter. After Meena saw the body of the deceased Madhu, my colleague Meena understood the facts. The meaning of the encounter is nothing but exchange of fire between police and the naxalites.

But in the two Telugu States, everyone knew that an encounter meant catching and shooting the Maoists. If you look at the violence that took place in the 2015 Shruti Sagar encounter in Medaram under the previous BRS government, it is clear that they were not encounters but government killings. Similarly, all the encounters that took place in Mulugu  on December 1, which took place during the Congress regime today, are fake,” he said.

He alleged that all the encounters were government killings. He said more than 300 Adivasis and activists had already been killed and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had already set up military camps at three places on the Telangana border as part of the Central government’s Operation Kagar. “On one hand, the CM is saying that movements are the solution to the fundamental problems and while saying that the same activists are being brutally murdered in the name of encounters”, he said.

He recalled that after the Revanth Reddy government came to power, 16 activists were shot dead in the name of the encounter and added that those who had set out for the fact-finding team on the Raghunathapalem encounter on November 5 were detained at Ashwalapet while making it clear that never in history has a fact-finding team been detained. He demanded that the Revanth Reddy government should rule Telangana democratically. He alleged that the present Congress government has no respect for the Constitution.  He questioned whether a man’s life can be sacrificed as per the Constitution.

He said the deceased Madhu Sahakari, requested that Meena be given complete freedom and not to subject her to any kind of harassment. He demanded that the government conduct peace talks and maintain a peaceful atmosphere and conduct autopsy of the bodies of the victims of the December 1 Mulugu encounter by forensic experts.
