
Hyderabad, Jan.18 (RAHNUMA): On the occasion of former AP Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s death anniversary, several film and political personalities paid tributes to him at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh and MP Purandeswari paid their respects on the 30th death anniversary of TDP founder NTR. They reached the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad and offered floral tributes at his memorial. Along with Lokesh, a large number of the TDP leaders and fans also gathered at the venue . Film actor Kalyan Ram also arrived at NTR Ghat and paid his respects. Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, Nandamuri Ramakrishna, Nandamuri Suhasini, and others also paid their respects to NTR. The ghat was decorated with flowers under the auspices of the NTR Trust. On this occasion, a photo exhibition showcasing NTR’s film and political life was organized.
NTR lives on in the hearts of the people: Daggubati Purandeswari
Speaking on the occasion, BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari said that even though 30 years have passed since NTR’s death, he continues to live in the hearts of the people. She said that he earned the love of his fans by portraying various roles in the Telugu film industry. “He impressed everyone not only as a hero but also as an anti-hero. After entering politics, he demonstrated that politics is not just for power but for the welfare of the people,” she said. She noted that many welfare schemes introduced by NTR were still being implemented today.
She stated that although some changes have been made, no one has discontinued those schemes. She mentioned that schemes like rice at one rupee per kilo, electricity at Rs. 50 for farmers, the Mandal system and education for women schemes were all introduced by NTR with strong resolve. She said that these schemes were a testament to his commitment to the people.
NTR will live on as long as the sun and moon exist: Nandamuri Balakrishna
The son of NTR and an MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna said that NTR left his indelible mark on both the film and political fields. On the occasion of NTR’s death anniversary, he paid tributes at the memorial in Hyderabad along with his family members.
Speaking to the media on this occasion, Balakrishna recalled NTR’s journey in cinema and politics. He said that To become a great personality, immense hard work and dedication were required and NTR possessed them. “He will live on as long as the sun and moon exist. NTR played roles in films that no one else had done. He experimented extensively in acting by completely immersing himself in every role. He created a sensation by founding the Telugu Desam Party. He made the political field, which was limited to a few, accessible to everyone. He extended a helping hand to the poor and weaker sections. He made every Telugu person proud to be a Telugu. He was a leader , who understood the suffering of the poor. The schemes introduced by NTR back then are now being implemented across the country. He brought governance closer to the people. He introduced projects like Telugu Ganga and Galeru Nagari,” he recalled.
Balakrishna said that the TDP was continuing his legacy. Nandamuri Ramakrishna praised NTR as the heartbeat of the Telugu people and a beloved son of the goddess of arts. He said that NTR rendered immense services in the film and political fields. He stated that NTR showcased the greatness of the Telugu people to the world.
NTR will live as long as the earth exists: Film actor Babu Mohan
Film actor Babu Mohan said that NTR would live as long as the earth exists. He said that NTR was his god and that NTR used to address him as his younger brother. He said that he couldn’t even bring himself to say that NTR had passed away. He expressed his wish that NTR be reborn and shine brightly as an actor again. He said that he believed NTR would return and commented that he was a man of an era.
NTR recognized the hunger of the poor: Former MLA Mothkupalli Narasimhulu
Mothkupalli Narasimhulu commented that NTR would live on in the hearts of the people for many years to come. He praised NTR as the great man , who recognized the hunger of the poor. He said that the schemes he introduced in the past were still being continued by governments today. He said that even though chief ministers change, the schemes do not change. Even a hundred years after his death, he is still alive, he said.
Good days will return to Andhra Pradesh: NTR’s wife Lakshmi Parvathi
The wife of NTR Lakshmi Parvathi also paid tributes on the death anniversary of her husband Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Speaking to the media afterward, she said that NTR was proof that great personalities would forever remain in history no matter how many years pass. She said that NTR didn’t become great personality for nothing, he became great because of the good deeds he did. She said that NTR was immortal. She said that he was ready to give up even his position for the ideal he believed in and for the woman who trusted him. She said that he would say that he would not bow down to backstabbing politics and would continue to pursue his ideal. Furthermore, she said that NTR used to say that a lion never eats grass but a lion always fights and achieves its goals.
