Rly minister visits Sec’bad station, reviews upgradation plans

Hyderabad, Aug.24 (NSS)Ravneet Singh, Minister of State for Railways, Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India visited Secunderabad Railway Station and reviewed the station major up gradation plans on Saturday. He was accompanied by  Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR,  Bhartesh Kumar Jain, DRM, Secunderabad, Neeraj Agrawal, Chief Administrative Officer, Construction, SCR and other senior Railway officials. The  Minister visited the Secunderabad Station building construction activity of basement at south side, multi level car parking facility, south building extension etc.

Ravneet Singh stated that  Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone for major upgradation of Secunderabad station and now 27% of the major up gradation works have been completed. The station is being upgraded with a cost of approximately Rs. 700 crore and the project is likely to be completed by the year 2026. He said the redeveloped station will have modern architecture and World-class passenger amenities. The project symbolizes the commitment of Government to enhance passenger experiences by modernizing infrastructure, ensuring safety, preserving the stations historical importance by blending the tradition with modernity. Secunderabad Railway station will be completely

transformed and will be on par with airports to reflect the aspirations of New India, he added.

Further,  Ravneet Singh informed that the station will have spacious roof plaza, cafeterias, recreational facilities, retail shops mainly promoting vocal for local products etc. He also appreciated the team SCR for their efforts and commitment towards carrying out the works at a fast pace so as to complete the project by targeted date.

The  Minister also stated that Secunderabad railway station would be a green energy station with solar panels for harnessing energy, sewerage treatment plants for reducing the water pollution. It is planned to be developed keeping in view of the needs of passengers for the next 50 years. He also stated that 119 railway stations are being developed under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with an expenditure of more than 5000 crore on SCR.

Speaking on the occasion,  Arun Kumar Jain, GM, SCR stated that four major railway terminals in the twin city area will witness remarkable changes. Apart from Secunderabad and Charlapalli the proposals for development of railway stations at Hyderabad and Kacheguda are under final stage. He appreciated the media for co-operating with the railways in positive portrayal of the efforts and keeping the public continuously informed about the development programs.

Ravneet Singh holds performance review meeting of SCR:

Later,  Ravneet Singh,  Minister of State for Railways, Food Processing Industries reviewed the performance of South Central Railway at General Manager’s Conference Hall, Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Guntakal were also present. The Hon’ble Minister appreciated the efforts of zonal officials in maintaining the safety of train operations and progress of infrastructure projects pertaining to new lines, doubling, tripling of existing lines, electrification, construction of Road over Bridges/Road Under bridges, Station development, provision of passenger amenities etc.
