[India], Apr. 5 (ANI): Puducherry Assembly Speaker V. Vaithilingam on Wednesday said that his ruling directing the government to transfer Municipal Commissioner R. Chandrasekaran was final.

The Speaker had ordered removal of Chandrasekaran after an MLA moved a privilege motion against him, alleging the official was not responding to various key public issues raised by him.

Vaithilingam said the Chief Secretary had informed him that he had not received any communication from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs or the Home Secretary to re-instate the official.

He further said it is the normal procedure under the administration, adding there is no question of law-breaking.

On the other hand, the member of the privilege committee Laxmi Narayanan issued contempt notices to both Secretary to Lt Governor Thevas Neethi Das and Chandrasekaran and asked for an explanation.

“We have given seven days time to Thevas Neethi Das and fifteen days time to Chandrasekaran,” Narayanan, adding why not action can be initiated against them for contempt of the house. (ANI)
