Hyderabad, Aug.1 (NSS): Founder-president of MRPS Manda Krishna Madiga today said their 20-year old struggle had finally paid off. “In 2004, I had said that dharma will always win. It is revealed that adharma is temporary. The Supreme Court has said the States have the power to make classifications. A Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Chandrachud delivered the verdict by a 6:1 majority on the SC categorisation issue,” he said.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi after the verdict, Madiga said they had been fighting for this victory for 30 years and added that many people lost their lives in the process. “There have been many conspiracies to damage the movements,” he alleged while noting that they did not lose patience, fought hard and won the case.
“In 1994, we started the categorisation campaign at Idumudi in Prakasam district. We fought to correct the injustice done to our community. This victory is dedicated to all those who stood by the MRPS for justice. Job notifications also need to be corrected,” he said while making it clear that the classification has nothing to do with the census. He said PM Modi had taken the initiative for the classification. “Special thanks to the judges who gave the favourable verdict. On November 5, 2004, I had said dharma will win any day. A victory meeting will be held soon and we will thank those who cooperated,” he added.
