HYDERABAD,27th March 2024:IIn a tragic incident that shook the nation’s conscience, 16-year-old Hafiz Junaid fell victim to sectarian violence on June 22, 2017, while returning home from Eid shopping. Attacked by assailants on a Mathura-bound train, Junaid was fatally stabbed multiple times, leaving behind a grieving family seeking justice.
Junaid’s mother, Saira Khatoon, continues to grapple with the pain of her son’s untimely demise, her tears a constant reminder of the injustice that has persisted for seven long years. Despite assurances and promises of compensation from authorities, including former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the family has received no financial support from the government.
It was only through the intervention of The Siasat Daily and the unwavering support of activist Brinda Karat that Junaid’s family managed to secure some relief funds. These funds were crucial in settling debts and pursuing legal recourse against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
