Hyderabad, Sept.20 (NSS): Minister Seethkka has emphasised that harassment against women in workplaces will not be tolerated.
She encouraged women to rise above any feelings of inferiority, stressing the importance of perseverance in the face of challenges.
The Minister made these remarks during the 10th Annual Leadership Summit organised by CII Indian Women Network Telangana at the Tech Mahindra campus in Madhapur on Friday.
While inaugurating the summit, Seethakka highlighted the vital role of women in society, though acknowledging the persistent mindset that underestimates their potential.
“Women are the changemakers of society. However, the mentality of viewing women as lesser beings still exists, which is why they lag behind. Despite women excelling in various fields, the belief that men are superior persists. Women must break free from this notion of inferiority,” she said.
Sharing her personal experience, Seethakka added, “I have relied on hard work without depending on anyone. I’ve served as an MLA three times and currently serve as a Minister. As an Adivasi woman, I have been entrusted with the large Panchayati Raj department, which serves over 13,000 village panchayats and two crore people. I am determined to fulfill my responsibilities with dedication.”
The Minister stressed the importance of providing a safe environment for women in the workplace. “If women aren’t safe at work, where will they be safe? Women should learn to raise their voices immediately if they face any problems. We will enact laws to address such issues if brought to our attention,” she stated firmly.
The Minister also spoke about the need for decentralising economic growth and promoting entrepreneurship in rural areas. “Businesses and entrepreneurs should not be confined to urban areas. Social disparities will reduce only when entrepreneurs rise from rural regions. Development should be decentralized, with industries being set up in rural areas as well. As a child of a rural community, this is my desire,” she said.
The Minister commended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and IT Minister Sridhar Babu for their focus on skill development and the expansion of IT to rural areas.
She encouraged women to embrace challenges instead of fleeing from them. “When challenges arise, do not run away. Face them head-on. Our government is committed to ensuring women’s safety and empowerment and will continue to support aspiring female entrepreneurs.”
She further discussed initiatives such as the T-Safe app, introduced to enhance the safety of women, particularly in travel and remote areas, noting that it has become a model for other states.
The Minister concluded by emphasising the need for gender equality, calling for equal opportunities for women across all sectors.
