Hyderabad, Oct.26 (NSS): Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Seethakka has directed officials to take adequate measures for providing safe, purified drinking water to every individual in Telangana’s rural areas.
The Minister held a state-level meeting with the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, and Executive Engineers of Mission Bhagiratha at the Engineer-in-Chief’s office in Erramanzil here on Saturday and discussed about the summer preparedness for rural drinking water supply in Telangana.
The meeting focused on reviewing the State’s drinking water supply systems and preparing for the upcoming summer. During the meeting, the engineers were tasked with providing safe, purified drinking water to every individual in Telangana’s rural areas.
The Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining quality standards in daily water supply and said that any pipeline leaks or breakages should be repaired within 24 hours to ensure uninterrupted water access.
Seethakka also stressed the importance of vigilance against waterborne diseases, such as diarrhea, and instructed that overhead water tanks in villages be chlorinated daily and cleaned every 10 days in coordination with Panchayat Secretaries.
Extending thanks to the timely efforts of the Telangana government, the previous summer saw no water shortages, the Minister commended the Mission Bhagiratha engineers for their continuous supervision and dedication and urged them to prepare a detailed action plan to address potential water needs for the upcoming summer.
Seethakka directed that a village-level action plan be developed to avoid water scarcity in the coming summer. Engineers were also instructed to respond immediately to news and social media reports or complaints regarding drinking water supply issues.
