Sensex down 208 points as selling continues

As selling continues at several counters, the market, which opened lower this morning on weak global cues, continues to languish in negative territory around early afternoon. The Sensex is down by about 208 points or 0.7% at 29,213.43, while the Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange is down 72.65 points or 0.8% at 9035.35.Tata Steel is trading 3% down. Reliance Industries is down by about 2.2%. Coal India is lower by 2.1% and Tech Mahindra is declining nearly 2%. Kotak Bank, Lupin, Aurobindo Pharma, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Asian Paints, Wipro and HCL Technologies are down 1.5% – 1.75%.Hero Motocorp, Adani Ports, Titan, GAIL India, Tata Motors and ONGC are also notably lower. Bharti Infratel, State Bank of India, Nestle, Power Grid Corporation, IndusInd Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Infosys are trading 0.3% – 1.2% up.Dr Reddy’s Laboratories is gainng about 0.6%. The pharma major and Integra LifeSciences have entered into an agreement to market and distribute DuraGen Plus and Suturable DuraGen Dural Regeneration in India.BHEL is up marginally. The company has announced that it has successfully commissioned 250 MW unit based on eco-friendly Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion technology, using low grade coal (lignite) as the primary fuel. This the second lignite-based thermal unit to be commissioned at Bhavnagar Energy Company’s 2×250 MW thermal power project, located at Padva village in Bhavnagar District of Gujarat. KEC International is down more than 6% on profit taking. The stock had touched a 52-week  high of Rs 213.40 in the previous session, rising consistently from around Rs 161 on 9 March 2017.
