Sensex looks headed for weak close; Delta Corp soars

With the mood remaining cautious and investors not evincing any keen interest in picking up stocks, the key Indian indices Sensex and the Nifty50 look headed for a slightly weak close today. Asian markets closed mostly higher today and major European markets are exhibiting a mixed trend. The Sensex is now down 41.82 points or 0.14% at 29,006.17. The Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange is down 14.05 points or 0.17% at 8949.50.Tata Steel is trading 2.3% down. Axis Bank, Lupin, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries are down 0.5% – 1.5%.Hindalco, down 3.7%, is the most prominent loser in the Nifty50 index. Yes Bank, Idea Cellular, UltraTech Cement, Bank of Baroda, Asian Paints and BHEL are lower by 0.4% – 1.4%.Adani Ports, BPCL, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, ONGC, Tata Power, Eicher Motors, IndusInd Bank, GAIL India, Power Grid Corporation and HDFC Bank are up 0.5% – 1.6%.Delta Corp Limited shares are up 12% at Rs 172.20. On the National Stock Exchange, the Delta Corp counter has clocked a volume of nearly 16 million shares so far in the session. Strong third quarter results and the launch of a product in Daman and expected fund raising from sale of land parcels are driving the stock up in recent sessions.
