Singareni CMD targets 2.5 lakh tonnes of daily coal output to meet power demand

Hyderabad, Dec.3 (NSS): In light of the rising power demand, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram has directed area GMs to ensure the daily production and transportation of 2.5 lakh tonnes of coal to thermal power plants under contract with Singareni.

To meet this target, the removal of 16 lakh cubic meters of overburden each day was also mandated.

During a review meeting on production with all area General Managers, Balaram emphasised the importance of every minute in achieving targets in the remaining 120 days of the financial year. He instructed mine managers and project officers to take proactive steps to prevent delays in operations. “All officers must reach the mines by 7 AM to guide workers and ensure strict adherence to the 8-hour work schedule. Non-compliance with discipline will invite stringent action,” Balaram asserted.

Highlighting operational efficiency, Balaram called for improved utilisation of company machinery, ensuring a minimum of 18 hours of usage per day. He also stressed maintaining quality and safety in production, asserting that providing high-grade coal would help Singareni retain its customer base and sustain its position in the competitive market.

Self-safety measures were underscored as vital for preventing accidents. New projects like VK Opencast in Kothagudem and Rompedu Opencast in Yellandu were instructed to commence production within the next three months. In addition to this, rapid completion of pending activities related to coal production at the Odisha Naini block, including tree census work, was ordered.

Directors D. Satyanarayana Rao and Venkateswara Reddy, GM (Coordination) S.D.M. Subhani, GM (Marketing) D. Ravi Prasad, corporate GMs and area GMs were also present in the meeting.
