New Delhi /Hyderabad, Nov.27 (RAHNUMA): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s “Infinity Campus” in Hyderabad, calling it a milestone in India’s fast-growing private space sector. Praising founders Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, he said their entrepreneurial spirit reflects India’s new era of innovation and youth-led ambition.
Modi highlighted how opening the space sector to private players has transformed it into a vibrant ecosystem, with over 300 space startups now driving breakthroughs in rockets, satellites and advanced materials. Global demand for small satellites and reliable launches presents a major opportunity for India, whose cost-effective capabilities are gaining worldwide attention, he noted.
Further, the Prime Minister underlined India’s emergence as the “World’s third-largest startup ecosystem”, the nation’s push into semiconductors and deep-tech, and upcoming reforms to open the Nuclear sector for private innovation. He pointed to the initiatives like the National Research Foundation, a Rs.1 lakh crore R&D fund, and plans to expand tinkering labs as steps to empower young innovators.
On this occasion, Modi underlined that the Rs.1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation Fund will provide significant support to youth across the country. More than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs have already been set up to instill a spirit of research and innovation among students, and added that the work is underway to establish 50,000 new labs in the coming days. Modi concluded by asserting that the ’21st century belongs to India, its youth, and its innovations’, as Skyroot’s success signals the nation’s rise as a global space leader.
