Special focus on Nagarjuna Sagar’s tourism development: Jupally

Hyderabad, Nov.1 (NSS)Minister for Excise and Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao has announced initiatives for constructing a star hotel in partnership with the private sector and developing water sports facilities around Nagarjuna Sagar and Buddhavanam.

Jupally KrishnaRao, accompanied by Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), Founder-President of the Shri Ramachandra Mission, and MLA K. Jayaveer Reddy, inspected the area surrounding Buddhavanam at Nagarjuna Sagar in Nalgonda district on Friday.

Initially, they reviewed layouts for Buddhavanam and Vijay Vihar. Later,  Tourism Development Corporation MD, Prakash Reddy and Buddhavanam Consultant, Sivanagi Reddy, detailed the unique features of the 274-acre Buddhavanam area to the Minister and Daaji.

Speaking on the occasion, Jupally Krishna Rao highlighted that Nagarjuna Sagar and Buddhavanam attract Buddhists from several Asian countries, especially Sri Lanka, and there is a need for adequate facilities to accommodate these visitors.

Enhanced amenities could attract an even larger international audience, he said.

Minister Jupally also examined surrounding lands and instructed Miryalaguda Sub-Collector Narayan Amith to conduct surveys on available government land.

He further inspected the Vipassana meditation center adjacent to Buddhavanam.

Minister Jupally emphasised the tourism department’s initiatives to develop Nagarjuna Sagar as a prime destination. As part of this plan, a star hotel and large-scale water sports will be developed in partnership with private entities, he disclosed.

The Minister also announced the construction of cottages accessible to all, aiming to boost tourism across the Nagarjuna Sagar constituency.

Earlier, local MLA K. Jayaveer Reddy noted that Nagarjuna Sagar’s proximity to the Krishna River, nearby hills, and the Buddhavanam area provide great potential for tourism growth.
