Hyderabad, Dec.12 (RAHNUMA): Telangana State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao, at the inaugural ceremony of the 41st National Senior Kyorgi Championship here at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium on Friday, emphasized the growing importance of sports in India’s development.
Rao said that India, which once struggled to secure even a single bronze, is now winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals at the Olympic level, reflecting the nation’s progress in the sporting arena.
He highlighted that the Modi government is spending 130 times more on sports compared to the pre-2014 period. Initiatives like Khelo India and Khelo Kudho have played a significant role in improving youth sports skills and identifying emerging talent, he noted.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, he said youth development and sports form a crucial pillar in nation-building by enhancing personality development, skills, and national integration.
Welcoming athletes from across India, including participants from states like Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, Rao encouraged them to experience Hyderabad’s warmth and enjoy its world-famous Hyderabadi Biryani.
