Hyderabad, Nov.8 (NSS): Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu has issued a strong warning that strict action will be taken against those who attempt to disrupt the state government’s comprehensive family survey.
This initiative, launched under the directives of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, aims to gather social, economic, and educational data for social justice initiatives. Sridhar Babu stressed that spreading misinformation or creating obstacles in the survey would not be tolerated.
In a statement here on Friday, the Minister criticised the objections raised by BRS leaders, who questioned the need for a new enumeration despite data already available from a previous government survey. He countered that these past records were analysed only as per the preferences of the then-ruling leaders, warranting the current government’s fresh approach.
Sridhar Babu remarked that the BRS and BJP parties seem alarmed by the prospect of a comprehensive caste survey, which aims to ensure justice for disadvantaged sections. Highlighting that the BJP-led central government has delayed the 2021 Census by over three years, he reiterated that Telangana’s family survey is essential for providing social, political, and economic support to marginalized communities, including BC, SC, and ST groups.
The Minister demanded that both BRS and BJP clarify to the people why they oppose this survey, which seeks to equitably distribute government benefits based on population data.
Addressing rumors that the survey intends to cut off pensions or ration cards, Sridhar Babu assured citizens of the government’s sincere commitment. He clarified that eligible beneficiaries currently missing out on social benefits would receive support following the survey.
Urging both parties to embrace the caste survey positively, Sridhar Babu advised BRS and BJP leaders that supporting such measures could secure their political relevance. He also encouraged residents to stay at home during the survey and cooperate with enumerators to ensure a smooth process. (NSS)
