Hyderabad, Sept.29 (NSS): “It is a matter of great regret and concern that no action plan is being formulated to tackle the worsening traffic situation and growing pollution in the city. If a survey of the worst traffic and pollution cities in the contry is conducted. Hyderabad City will certainly stand in first rank”, said City auto drivers’ union leader Mohammed Amanullah Khan.
Khan said, “the erstwhile Congress, TDP and the present Congress Government collects crores of ruppes every day in the shape of life tax by registering hundreds of cars non-stop. Whether it is liquor or road safety policy money is the main thing which matters most to the Governments. Congress Government is no exception to this practice. So our JAC finds no difference whatsoever between the previous government and the present Congress Government in their criminal negligence in solving the traffic and vehicle pollution problems in the city. We therefore demand that the government tackle the worsening traffic situation and growing pollution in Hyderabad City in a priority basis by formulating short and long term measures without further delay.
While addressing media persons today, Amanullah Khan demanded that the Government stating that generally 75% of the private cars carry less than three persons and if the 70% cars are banned on the City Roads, the traffic problem will be solved automatically. He also demanded that the government ban outside Autos plying in the city and tackle the traffic and pollution problem.
