Telangana aims to develop Hyderabad as laboratory of future: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad, Feb.17 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana government has set an ambitious goal of transforming Hyderabad into a “Laboratory of the Future,” positioning the city as a global hub for innovation-led Life Sciences growth, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said.

Inaugurating BioAsia 2026 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) here on Tuesday, the Minister announced that the State aims to attract $25 billion in investments in the life sciences sector by 2030 and generate five lakh new jobs.

He said the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy (2026–2030) has been formulated to position the State among the top three Life Sciences clusters globally by the end of this decade.

Noting the evolving global healthcare landscape, Sridhar Babu said India is no longer viewed merely as a supply base for pharmaceuticals and vaccines but increasingly as a source of advanced scientific solutions. “Telangana is preparing for this shift — from a manufacturing base to a global centre for innovation, research and advanced drug discovery,” he said.

The Minister highlighted that Hyderabad is the only Indian city featured among the world’s leading Life Sciences ecosystems in the CBRE Global Life Sciences Atlas (2025), alongside established hubs such as Boston, San Francisco, Beijing and Tokyo.

He said the State is strengthening its research, innovation and high-end manufacturing ecosystem through structured interventions. Efforts are underway to build a future-ready workforce through institutions such as the Telangana School of Life Sciences and Young India Skills University, with specialised training in emerging domains including mRNA technology, gene editing and AI-driven drug discovery.

A dedicated policy has also been introduced to develop Hyderabad as a global medical tourism hub, he added.

Inviting global enterprises and investors to partner with Telangana, Sridhar Babu said opportunities exist across AI-based drug discovery, automation in biologics manufacturing, data-driven precision medicine, computational biology and Bio-Manufacturing 4.0.

“Telangana is ready to collaborate with global industry leaders to shape the next phase of Life Sciences innovation,” he said.
