Brussels/Hyderabad, Jan.13 (RAHNUMA): Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy met European Parliament Director General for Communication Christian Mangold to discuss strategies to counter digital misinformation and social media – driven disinformation during elections.
Mangold outlined the EU’s electoral communication framework, fake news monitoring systems, and rapid-response mechanisms. Sudarshan Reddy explained India’s electoral process and new Election Commission initiatives for elderly, disabled, and migrant voters. Mangold praised India’s conduct of elections as the world’s largest democracy.
The meeting was part of a European study tour by a Telangana delegation to learn global best practices in safeguarding election credibility in the digital age.
