Hyderabad, July 25 (NSS): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has informed that the State government has decided to join the Pradhana Manthri Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY) from this year for providing the insurance facility to farmers in Telangana.
Presenting the State government’s full-scale budget for the financial year of 2024-25 in the Assembly on Thursday, Bhatti Vikramarka said that the premium that was to be paid by the farmer would be paid by the State government itself and the crops would be insured without the farmer spending a single penny.
“The previous government had failed to protect the farmers by not releasing the premium necessary for the crop insurance. To avoid such kind of problems, the Congress government has decided to join the Pradhana Manthri Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY) from this year for the benefit of farmers,” Bhatti Vikramarka disclosed.
“Droughts and floods are a bane to the farmers. They toil hard through the season and one stroke of bad weather is enough to destroy their hard work. Such natural calamities endanger the crops leading to their economic destruction. It is the State government’s responsibility to protect the farmers from various vagaries,” he added.
