TELANGANA GOVT EXTENDING FULL SUPPORT TO SPORTS: VAKITI SRIHARI

Hyderabad, Dec.27 (RAHNUMA): Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari on Saturday said that the state government has been providing complete support to all sports, stressing that sports play a vital role in guiding youth in the right direction.

The Minister attended the Global Cycling Event Trophy Tour programme in Pune as the chief guest, where he unveiled the trophy and jerseys for the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said it was a matter of pride that India was hosting the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour, the country’s first UCI Class 2.2 international stage cycling race.

He noted that national and international teams registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) were participating in the event and expressed happiness that India was formally entering the professional global road cycling system. He added that the Telangana government would extend full cooperation to host similar competitions in the state in the future.

The Minister appreciated the Maharashtra government’s initiative in organising the Pune Grand Tour and said that promoting sports would help India develop the capacity to host world-class UCI-approved stage races. He also noted that participants from over 40 countries were taking part in the event.

Vakiti Srihari said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was giving significant encouragement to sports and sportspersons in Telangana and assured full government support for any sporting event organised in the state.

The event was attended by SATS Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy, Telangana Olympic Association General Secretary Malla Reddy, Race Technical Director Pinaki Baisak, and Athletes Commission of CFI member Maxwell Travel.
