
Hyderabad, Sept.24 (NSS): Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said the Telangana government is playing an active role in the implementation of sustainable development at various levels in the State.
Addressing the 10th CPA India Region Conference on the subject of Role of Legislative Bodies in attainment of Sustainable and Inclusive Development at New Delhi on Tuesday, the Speaker said the Telangana has made significant strides towards sustainable development with the support of Legislative machinery and the State government’s initiatives on achieving sustainable development goals are now yielding excellent results.
“Telangana’s active pursuit of sustainable development goals with strong Legislative backing has placed it as one of the leaders in India’s Sustainable Development Goals Index, reflecting progress in the fields of health, education, gender equality, clean water, and economic growth,” the Speaker pointed out.
He further stated that the current Congress government in Telangana which came into power in December, 2023 has successfully implemented its six guarantees that were given to the people of the State by way of poll promises at the time of elections.
“Telangana has been consistently ranking among the top performing States in India concerning its sustainable development goals performance,” Prasad Kumar said.
In the 2024 Index, Telangana excels in healthcare, water management and economic growth. The State’s focused Legislative initiatives, such as improving the reach of health services, promoting inclusive economic policies and fostering environmental sustainability, have earned it a place as a model for other States in the country, he added.
