Hyderabad, Nov.25 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that his government had decided not to accept Rs.100 crore donation announced by Adani Group for Skill University.
He further informed that the State government has also written a letter to the Adani Group not to transfer the donation amount of Rs.100 crore to the Skill University.
Speaking to the media at his residence here, Revanth Reddy said some forces have been accusing the State government of accepting funds from the Adani Group and however, as per the rule , everyone has been given the opportunity to invest legally.
“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made it clear that the company which won the bids as per the rules will get the opportunity to invest. Several companies have come forward to provide funds under the Corpus Fund for the Skills University which has been set up by the Telangana government ambitiously. As part of that, Adani group came forward and announced Rs 100 crore for the university,” he disclosed.
The Chief Minister further informed that till now, the Telangana government has not taken funds from any company, including Adani Group.
“In the wake of the ongoing controversies, a letter has been written stating that the State government is not ready to accept Rs.100 crore funds offered by Adani group.
The Telangana has nothing to do with the controversies surrounding the Adani company in neighboring States and in other countries,” Revanth Reddy said.
Stating that the Skill University has been started with a good intention and the State government doesn’t want to make it controversial, the Chief Minister said, for that reason, it has been decided not to accept a Rs 100 crore donation from Adani Group.
“I appeal to all the media persons stop looking at the issue from a political angle and make it controversial,” Revanth Reddy said.
He also clarified that there was no agenda of his visiting New Delhi and said that his visit to the national capital was to attend the wedding of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter
“Media always highlights the Cabinet expansion during my Delhi tour every time. But, today’s Delhi visit has no political significance. On Tuesday, we will discuss the issue which needs to be raised in the Parliament on behalf of the Telangana government with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs. We will chalk out an action plan to get funds and permissions which are due to the State. We will meet the available Union Ministers, seeking to release pending funds and approval of the permissions,” Revanth Reddy disclosed.
Indirectly criticising the BRS leaders, the Chief Minister said, “some forces are counting my Delhi tours, but I am not going to Delhi to kneel down before Prime Minister Narendra Modi like them, or to hold someone’s leg to escape from the cases or to ask the Governor not to give permission,”.
He stated that Telangana has suffered a lot in the last ten years and it is our right to get funds from the Centre. The BJP is not giving funds to Telangana from the party treasury. It is given from the central government treasury, Revanth Reddy pointed out.
The Chief Minister further informed that this is not the time to show anger and resentment against someone and they will move forward for the development of Telangana with a commitment.
Responding to the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections and by-polls to Parliament segments, the Chief Minister said the Congress won Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharastra and
Priyanka Gandhi won Wayanad Lok Sabha segment in Kerala with a bigger majority.
“People gave a verdict differently in the State and at the Centre elections. The BJP has been rejected everywhere in the country. I wonder why the BJP leaders are celebrating,” he pointed out.
