Telangana scientist wins national award for breakthrough in 3D-printed nutrition

Hyderabad, Dec.22 (RAHNUMA): Dr. Jadala Shankaraswamy, an assistant professor at the College of Horticulture at Mojerla in Mahabubnagar district, has been awarded the AFSTi–Springer Nature Award 2025 for his outstanding contribution to food science and nutrition research.

The award was presented during the 31st India Convention of Food Scientists and Technologists (ICFoST)–2025, held at NIFTEM-T from December 18 to 20.

Dr. Shankaraswamy’s award-winning research focuses on the fabrication of a 3D food printing machine and the development of micronutrient-rich, oro-dispersible food films using locally available and underutilised vegetables such as Boda Kakarakaya, Ponnaganti kura and Gongura.

The innovation enhances the bioavailability of essential minerals and supports personalised nutrition through controlled nutrient release. As part of the award, he received a nature gift voucher and a cash prize.

The achievement highlights Telangana’s growing contribution to advanced food technologies and sustainable nutrition research.
