TELANGANA SIGNED AGREEMENTS WORTH RS.35,820 CRORE IN 10 MONTHS: SRIDHAR BABU

Hyderabad, Nov.14 (NSS): Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu has disclosed that the Telangana government signed agreements for investments worth Rs. 35,820 crore in the past ten months, aimed at creating 51,000 jobs.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Sridhar Babu outlined remarkable achievements in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors, highlighting the State’s success in attracting significant investments even before the Congress government has completed its first year.

He said that141 domestic and multinational companies had started preparation for production in the pharmaceuticals, vaccines, life sciences, and research fields.

“Telangana is now a hub for new pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in India, with plans to establish pharma clusters in multiple locations rather than just a single center,” Sridhar Babu said.

He further stated that to ensure sustainable growth, all facilities in these industries are required to implement advanced pollution control systems as part of their regulatory approvals.

Highlighting international collaborations, the Minister announced that Japan’s Takeda Life Sciences, in partnership with Hyderabad-based Biological E, is set to produce 50 million doses of dengue vaccines annually for global distribution.

In addition to this, Zoetis, the world’s largest animal healthcare company, has launched a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad. The world’s leading biotechnology company, Amgen, also recently inaugurated its GCC, which will employ 3,000 professionals, Sridhar Babu said.

The Minister credited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s U.S. visit for facilitating these agreements, leading to the rapid establishment of these GCCs by Zoetis and Amgen.

Sridhar Babu also revealed that in the coming two months, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will announce a policy aimed at providing land allocations and incentives for companies willing to establish operations in Telangana, particularly in the life sciences sector.

He noted that no other Indian State has yet formulated a comparable policy.

Stating that the government will conduct land acquisition for pharma clusters transparently and only after fulfilling people demands and gaining community consent, Sridhar Babu urged the farmers to approach officials with their grievances, adding that the government remains undeterred by the opposition’s provocations.

The Minister emphasised that the government will not tolerate any forces attempting to obstruct development.

IT and Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Director of the Life Sciences department Shakthi Nagappan, and TGIIC CEO Madhusudan were also present.
