Telugu Film Chamber responds to Jani Master’s episode

Hyderabad, Sept.17 (NSS): The Telugu Film Chamber has officially responded to the allegations made by an assistant choreographer from Madhya Pradesh that popular choreographer Jani Master sexually harassed her.

The Film Chamber of Commerce held a press conference on the issue. Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Jhunsi and Film Chamber Secretary Damodar Prasad were present at the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, they said the federation had already been directed to remove Jani Master from the post of the president of the Dancer’s Association until the controversy was resolved following allegations against him. “We have also collected information from the victim’s parents, who stated that the girl had seen hell for five years. They made it clear that they would discuss the matter with CM Revanth Reddy and take strict action against Jani.

Anchor and actress Jhansi has reacted to sexual harassment in the film industry. She said there were no proper guidelines for women’s safety in the film industry. Jhansi claimed that a committee had formed after the actress Sri Reddy issue and as soon as the Jani Master issue came to the fore, the committee looked into it and added that the victim first came forward by saying that she was embarrassed in terms of her work and sexual harassment. “We have also recorded the girl’s statement as well as Jani’s  statement. But the sexual harassment did not take place in the work location and the girl is already going ahead legally,” she said.

Jhansi, however, said the media should not reveal the victim’s photos and added that the inquiry would go on and full clarity on the same would  come in 90 days. Tammareddy Bharadwaja said the Jani  Master controversy first came to them  from the media. “In 2018, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had set up a sexual harassment redressal panel in its place, but we are not able to give courage to a woman in the industry. Every girl in the industry should be assured that they have the support in case of a crisis and the decisions of the committee should be taken accordingly and the Jani master’s case will be completed within 90 days,” he said, adding that the dancers union was also extending full cooperation with them  in this regard.
