Hyderabad, Sept.15 (NSS): During the immersion of Ganesh idols, there was tension on the Tank Bund here today. The organisers of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti started agitation demanding permission for the Ganesh immersion on the Tank Bund. The leaders of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti removed the flexes and heavy fencing chords set up by the police by stating that the immersion would not be allowed at the tank bund as per High Court’s orders.
Enraged at this, the organisers not only removed the flexes, but also removed the fencing wires put up by the police. The Utsava Samithi organisers expressed anger that the State government and the police were hurting the sentiments of the devotees by bringing new rules. They alleged that the police put up the same flexes and banners in 2022 and 2023 and added that they immersed the idols at the tank bund despite the restrictions.
They said the government should immediately make arrangements for the Ganesh immersion on the tank bund and warned that they would give a call to all the Ganesh pandal organisers to hold protest programs condemning the decision of the police on Monday and would allow the movement of the idols for the immersion.
