The 105th Convocation Ceremony held at MCEME Secunderabad

Hyderabad, June 29 (NSS):The 105th Convocation Ceremony was conducted at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad on 29 June 2024. The Convocation Ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, CEO, Rainbow Children’s Hospitals, wherein 22 officers of TES-41 Course, including three officers of the Royal Bhutan Army and two officers of Sri Lanka Army were conferred upon the prestigious B. Tech Degrees of JNU.

The event commenced with an inspiring address by Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM, Commandant MCEME and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME, who while complimenting the young officers on achieving the unique milestone, exhorted them to embrace the technology in furthering the capability development and modernization efforts of the Indian Army and urged them to strive to integrate niche technical advancements with strategic military applications.

The Technical Entry Scheme aims to induct highly trained technical officers, into the folds of the Indian Army, who are physically agile, mentally robust and trained to tackle complexities of modern defense technology and contribute to national security. In the past four years, these 22 officers have successfully completed a rigorous program that blends cutting-edge technology with comprehensive military training, aimed at shaping them into a ‘Techno Warrior’.

While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest lauded the exemplary training standards at MCEME, expressing his confidence that the officers are well prepared to excel in contemporary warfare. He highlighted the importance of their rigorous training in equipping them with the skills necessary to address modern defense challenges. He also emphasized that these young officers, armed with cutting edge knowledge and technical prowess, are poised to make significant contribution to national security.

The GOC-in-C ARTRAC Trophy and book prize for the best all round student officer and the DGEME Gold Medal for standing first in the overall order of merit was awarded to Lt Thorat Sandesh Sanjay.

The Convocation Ceremony concluded with a project display by the young officers in niche domains of engineering, with each project offering innovative solutions to existing challenges faced by the Indian Army. (NSS)
