
New Delhi, Nov.26 (NSS): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has requested Union Minister for Defence Rajnath Singh to transfer 222.27 acres of land under the Defence department to the State government for the development of Bapu Ghat at the confluence of the Isa and Musi rivers in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders, called on Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday evening and submitted a list of demands.
On the occasion, Revanth Reddy told the Union Defence Minister that the State government has decided to develop Bapu Ghat, the place where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were interred, into a centre to showcase Gandhian philosophy at the global level.
Rajnath Singh has been informed that the Gandhi Sarovar project will be undertaken with a knowledge hub, meditation village, handloom promotion center, public entertainment places, landscaped ghats, a Statue of Peace, and museums at Bapu Ghat.
The Chief Minister requested Rajnath Singh to take initiative for the transfer of the Defense land to Telangana government.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu and asked him to extend his support for the industrial and transportation development in Telangana.
