
Hyderabad, Dec.2 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) will stage a ‘Maha Dharna’ on December 3 at Samachar Bhavan near Masab Tank here, demanding that the state government address long-pending issues faced by the journalists.
TUWJ state president K. Virahat Ali, at a press conference in Basheerbagh, said that the journalists, neglected during the previous KCR regime, continue to face the same apathy under the present Congress government. He warned that the agitation would be intensified if the state fails to respond.
The union demanded the immediate announcement of a new accreditation policy, issuance of new cards, renewal of the health insurance scheme, allocation of housing plots, formation of professional committees, and support to small and medium newspapers which are struggling for survival.
Union leaders, including IJU National Secretary Y. Narender Reddy, TUWJ General Secretary K. Ramnarayana, and HUJ President Shiga Shankar Goud were also present.
