Two AP justices sworn in as permanent judges

Amaravati, Aug.28 (NSS): Justice Venkata Jyothirmayi Pratap and Justice Venuthurumalli Gopalakrishna Rao were sworn-in as permanent judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court today. Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur administered the oath of office and secrecy to them. So far both of them have been additional judges of the High Court.

President Draupadi Murmu had recently given her  assent to the Supreme Court collegium’s recommendations  issued on August  13 to appoint them as the permanent judges of the HC.

Justice Venkata Jyothirmayi Pratap’s hometown is Tenali in Guntur district. He studied there till his degree completion . He graduated in law from Acharya Nagarjuna University. In 2008, he was directly elected as a district judge. He was elevated as a high court judge after serving as the Chairman of family court, SC/ST court, CBI court, VAT tribunal and chief justice (PDJ) of Visakhapatnam, Prakasam and East Godavari districts.

Justice Venuthurumalli Gopalakrishna Rao’s hometown is Challapalli in Krishna district. In 1994, he was elected as a junior civil judge. In 2007, he was promoted to senior civil judge. He was re-promoted and served as additional district judge in Srikakulam and Tirupati since 2016. He was the first additional district judge of Guntur and was promoted as a High Court judge.
