Hyderabad, Dec.7 (NSS): The president of Velama Community Development & Welfare Committee P. Chokka Rao today demanded that the Assembly Speaker cancel the membership of Shadnagar MLA Shankar, who made inappropriate comments on the Velama caste.
Speaking to media persons today, he said it was not civility of an MLA to speak abusively about their community. He said it was shameful that the MLA was abusing the Velama community as he is not able to face their caste leaders politically. He said he was reacting on the issue because he was not only a blind man, but a man of self respect. He was furious that the Chief Minister and MLA were also making the same comments.
He suggested that public representatives elected by the people should learn civility. He said a complaint had been made to the Election Commission on the matter. He questioned whether a case against the MLA can’t be filed when cases can be filed against ordinary people when they make inappropriate comments? He demanded a public apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on the issue. Leaders Lakshma Reddy, Paramesh and others were also present.
