VH seeks justice for installation of Ambedkar statue at Madina circle

Hyderabad, Nov.22 (NSS): Former MP and Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao has urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to take initiative for the instalation of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar statue in the old city.

Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, V Hanumantha Rao said that the Ambedkar statue, which was installed by Jai Bheem activists at Panjagutta Circle in 2019, was allegedly dismantled by GHMC authorities and discarded in the Jawahar Nagar dumping yard.

“Expressing regret over the incident, I had identified the statue and informed the police about its location. Currently, the statue is kept at the Goshamahal police station. Since then, I have been fighting a legal battle to restore the statue to its rightful place,” he said.

The Congress leader further stated that the court also instructed the authorities to hand over the Ambedkar statue.

“I am requesting that the statue to be placed at Madina Crossroads in the Old City by the time of Ambedkar birth anniversary. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has also extended the support for the installation of Ambedkar statue,” VH said.

The Congress leader urged the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to take proactive steps to ensure the statue’s placement in the Old City.
