
Hyderabad, Feb.27 (RAHNUMA): Mahesh Kumar Labour and Mines Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy called for developing Chennur Municipality into a model urban local body with comprehensive growth across all sectors.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Chennur for reposing faith in the Congress leadership and electing its representatives. The Minister advised councillors to remain accessible to the public, listen to their grievances, identify key issues and work towards timely resolution.
The Minister joined ceremony of taking charge by the newly elected Municipal Chairperson Peddinti Padma in Chennur Municipality as the chief guest. He conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the new Chairperson and members of the governing body.
The Minister stated that development works are currently underway in all wards of the municipality and that projects worth approximately ₹50 crore have been grounded.
He noted that borewells, CC roads and side drain works are progressing in several wards. Fulfilling the election promise, he assured that drinking water would be supplied to every household under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
Alleging that the previous government had misused thousands of crores of rupees under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme, the Minister assured that a dedicated drinking water project based on Godavari river water would be implemented for the residents of Chennur. He further announced that road widening works in the town would be taken up shortly.
Funds have already been allocated for the construction of community buildings for caste associations in the town, he said. Responding to public demand, the Minister assured that Godavari sand would be made available to local residents within the next six months.
Recalling the poor road conditions in Maremmavada, where even autos could not ply earlier, Vivek stated that roads were laid after his election.
The Minister informed that 100 new Indiramma houses have been sanctioned for the municipality and that issues related to the housing scheme were discussed in the Cabinet. He criticised the previous government for not clearing pending bills of contractors.
LCompensation amounting to about ₹18 crore has been sanctioned and distributed to farmers of Devulawada, Babberu and Cheluk villages for their lands. He also announced that a 100-bed hospital would be inaugurated in Chennur in the month of May and the development works of the crematorium are being taken up at a cost of ₹1.20 crore.
Referring to his in-charge responsibilities in Medak district, the Minister said he had strengthened the Congress party there and would similarly strive to bring more funds and accelerate development works in Chennur Municipality.
He also urged urging all stakeholders to work unitedly in every ward to ensure the overall development of Chennur town in line with the aspirations of its people
