WADA to consider blanket ban on corticosteroids

Author: AFPThu, 2017-03-09ID: 1489056762427351500LONDON: A blanket ban on corticosteroids, the drug at the heart of controversies involving former Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins and All Blacks rugby legend Dan Carter, is being considered by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), it was revealed on Wednesday.Such a ban would make it more difficult to receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), which Wiggins successfully utilized on three occasions for the corticosteroid triamcinolone to treat asthma.One of those TUEs was issued in 2012 when he became the first British winner of the Tour de France.Main category: Sports
