We are opposed to hike in electricity charges: KTR

Hyderabad, Oct.25 (NSS): BRS party working president KTR said they were opposed to the hike in electricity charges. “The last 10 years have been like a golden age and from these 10 months, every day has been like an era,” he mocked. He also said during his party’s tenure, not a single rupee of burden was imposed on the farmers. Electricity has been provided free of cost to the farmers,” he said.

The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Board held an open inquiry in Sircilla on the hike in electricity charges and revenue requirement. On the occasion, KTR made his arguments. He said it was not right to impose the burden of the electricity on the people. He said the government should help the Sircilla weavers. “We are opposed to the proposal to increase the electricity charges by five times,” he said.

He also said the electricity given to all industries was not built in a single pit and added that the hike in fares would put a burden on cottage industries. Employment opportunities in the State are being affected, he said. He also said all industries would survive only if they are protected. “It is not fair to think of putting the burden of free electricity on the middle class, small industries and heavy industries. KTR said the responsible ERC should take a decision in this regard keeping in mind the welfare of the people and the State and added that the government’s proposal to increase the electricity charges should be rejected.

“The Congress party is trying to wipe out the electricity in the name of free electricity. We are opposed to the hike in electricity charges. Power cuts are there on one side in 10 months. On the other hand, the charges have proposed to be increased. We will oppose the fare hike and will  agitate to fight the people’s struggle. The government is trying to break the shackles of the poor and middle class families For Adani and Ambani,” he alleged. He questioned as to how the same category would be given to Sircilla weavers.

“There have been no suicides in the last 10 years, but in 10 months, 10 people have died. CM Revanth should change his mind in the issue,” he said. KTR also responded to State minister Ponguleti’s comments that bombs would explode before Deepavali. He mocked that the minister could be talking about the ED raids on his properties. He asked the minister to do whatever he wanted to do against him. KTR said the CM would file false cases against him and send him to jail and added that he was not even afraid of real bombs leave alone the fire crackers.

Targeting turncoat Jagtial MLA Sanjay, he termed as a political prostitute. “Congress leaders are killing each other in Jagtial while CM Revanth Reddy is working under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he alleged.
