We kept our promise within 100 days by launching Anna canteens: Lokesh

Guntur, Aug.16 (NSS): Education, IT & Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh today said the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP-led NDA government  put a full stop to hunger with the setting up of anna canteens. He inaugurated anna canteens set up at Nulakapeta and Mangalagiri old bus stand in Tadepalli of Mangalagiri constituency on Friday along with the alliance leaders.

Earlier, he offered floral tributes to NTR’s statue. Later, amidst chanting of mantras by Vedic scholars, a ribbon was cut and anna canteens were opened. Lokesh also served breakfast to the people at the canteens and enquired about the details of the anna canteen website annacanteenstrust.ap.gov.in designed for donations was examined by him.

Speaking on the occasion, he said  the  coalition government had  kept its promise of the anna canteens within 100 days of coming into power.  “In the past, when Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister, the anna canteens were started. As part of this, 203 anna canteens have been opened across the State. During the 2024 elections, Babu had promised to set up anna canteens along with super-6 promises. Within 100 days of coming to power, we have kept our promise of setting up the anna canteens. We have started 100 anna canteens.

“The Anna canteens have been set up at Mangalagiri town, Nulakapeta in Tadepalli, Railpet in Duggirala and Revendrapadu with my  own funds. Mid-day meal facility was provided at Rs 2. Apart from this, 29 welfare and development programmes have been taken up for the weaker sections. With my  own funds, carts, water tankers to quench the thirst of the people, health chariots for medical services, sewing machines for women through Stree Shakti scheme, looms for weavers, tools for goldsmiths, tricycles for the disabled and cement tables for pedestrians to relax were set up,” he added.

Nara Lokesh, along with common people had a tiffin at the Anna canteen inaugurated at Mangalagiri old bus stand. Mangalagiri constituency alliance leaders, officials and akshaya patra organizers participated in the event.
