“We will build partially completed houses under Indiramma scheme: Ponguleti

Hyderabad, July 24 (NSS)State Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy today made crucial comments on Indiramma house scheme to be implemented by the Congress government.

Replying to a question raised by BRS party MLC Tata Madhu during the question hour as part of the ongoing council meetings, Ponguleti said two months before the previous BRS government’s elections, GO no. 25 was issued sanctioning Rs 3 lakh each for construction of houses and added that the foundation had  been laid for the construction of 496  houses.

Stating that the GO has now been cancelled, he said they would give ₹5 lakh to build the houses instead of ₹3 lakh under the Indiramma houses scheme. Tatha Madhu raised a supplementary question on this and added that the number quoted by the minister was far from the reality. This was countered by Ponguleti. He said when the Congress was in power in the united AP from 2006 to 2014, more than 19 lakh Indiramma houses were completed in Telangana. “But, the previous government had completed only 1,36,116 houses in 10 years,” he said.

He also said under the then Congress government, the houses which were completed partially would now be completed by their government now. He said the Congress government was moving ahead with the aim of providing houses to the poorest of the poor of Telangana.
