₹2 lakh crop loan waiver promise is fake: KTR

Hyderabad, Aug.21 (NSS)BRS party working president KT Rama Rao today alleged that the crop loan waiver amount claimed by the State government was fraudulent and added that the ₹.2 lakh loan waiver promise given by the Congress government was also fake.

Addressing media persons at Telangana Bhavan here, he said what the government is saying about the loan waiver was half-truths and false. “Crop Loan waiver is not a loan waiver. It’s keeping a hat on the farmers. Minister Thummala said a loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh had been waived off. Another minister Uttam  Kumar Reddy  was boasting about the loan waiver,” he said and demanded that the government apologise to the farmers over the loan waiver scheme. He  expressed anguish that farmers across the State were burning with anger. “The farmers are on the roads without the loan waiver. If you look at any magazine or channel, you will see the same news. The protesting farmers have been booked under various sections that will carry for seven years and two years punishment in jail.

KTR criticized CM Revanth Reddy for celebrating by claiming that the loan waiver had been done for all eligible farmers. “The CM is saying that Rs 31,000 crore has been waived off. The ministers are saying that the loan waiver was not done due to technical reasons. The Congress government is trying to get rid of the waiver. Is the government clear on the original loan waiver? or not,” KTR asked.

He mocked that while the loan waiver was done only for 30 per cent farmers, the cheating done by the Congress party to the farmers was 100 per cent. He said there would be farmers’ dharnas at all mandal centres on Thursday. He demanded that the State government filed cases against all the farmers  be withdrawn. He also demanded an apology from the government for not waiving all the crop loans.

KTR said he would perform milk abhishekam to the statue of Telangana’s Thalli in protest against the CM’s remarks. KTR asked the government to tell by when the loan waiver would be completed. He  said as long as the BRS party is there, it would  stand by the farmers and appealed them  not to lose their morale. KTR warned that he would chase the government till the entire loan waiver was done. He clarified that he did not have a farmhouse at Janwada and added that he had taken the farm house on lease.

He made it clear that he would allow the State government to demolish the controversial farm house if it fell under the limits of FTL and  the buffer zone. Stating that several Congress leaders owned illegal farmhouses, he said demolition should start from the farmhouses of State ministers and the Congress leaders.
