Bhadradri Kothagudem, Aug.15 (NSS): Three pump houses of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project were inaugurated in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday.
Chief Minister A Revanthreddy inaugurated the second pump house of Sitarama project at Pusugudem village and unveiled the project pylon to mark the occasion.
While Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy inaugurated the first pump house while Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka switched on the third pump house at Kamalapuram village of Mulakalapalli mandal in the district.
The Sitarama project is designed aimed at irrigating 3.29 lakh acres of new ayakut and about 3.45 lakh acres of stabilization ayakut.
Later, speaking to the media, the Chief Minister accused the previous BRS government of indulging in a large scale corruption in the name of redesigning the projects.
“The BRS government had spent Rs 1.80 lakh crores of public money during its tenure, but it couldn’t give a drop of water to farmers. After the Congress government has come to power in Telangana, the priority has been given to pending projects of the Khammam district and all are being completed in a phased manner,” he pointed out.
The Chief Minister alleged that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao never wanted to complete the projects and did not give DPRs for any project in the last ten years.
“The family members of KCR have destroyed the economy of Telangana. Both KCR and former minister Harish Rao have lost credibility among the people and they are like worthless rupees,” Revanth Reddy said.
