
Hyderabad, Aug.17 (NSS): Singareni Collieries Company established prior to nation’s independence and with proven track record in coal production with efficient and expert manpower, it should now enter other mining sectors, suggested Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka here on Saturday.
The Deputy Chief Minister made several suggestions on the future plans and development of Singareni Company in a review meeting held at the Secretariat on the Company’s performance and growth.
Speaking at the meeting, he said conventional fuel resources like petrol, diesel, coal were becoming outdated and future would be dominated by power batteries for transition to sustainable energy.
Under these circumstances, SCCL should focus on exploration of lithium and similar minerals and their extraction. Singareni Company, an asset for people of Telangana should strengthen its existence and create wealth and more assets. This would pave way to generate employment and livelihood opportunities for people in the State, Bhatti said.
“The Singareni should formulate plans for diversifying and expanding into metals and non-metals mining. If required, the Singareni officials should appoint a consultancy for the purpose,” Bhatti emphasised.
During the meeting, officials explained to the Deputy Chief Minister about the preparations for setting up floating solar and pumped storage power plants and the
detailed project report was being prepared and it would be submitted soon to the government.
Bhatti inquired the officials about the update on Naini Coal block in Odisha and from when the coal production would commence.
Energy Secretary Sundeep Kumar Sultania, Special Secretary to Deputy CM Krishna Bhaskar , Singareni CMD Balram Naik and others attended the meeting.
