Scamsters dupe victim of Rs 5 lakh!

Hyderabad, Sept.27 (NSS): A victim made payments as required and the scammers continued to provide commercial ads, prompting the victim to pay repeatedly. Eventually, they asked the victim to pay Rs 5 lakh to receive the total amount earned, which was not affordable for the victim. At this point, the victim realized he had been scammed. The total amount paid by the victim was ₹ 1,58,478. The victim filed a complaint seeking help.

The cybercrime police urged the public to remain cautious of part-time job, investment frauds, and online job fake offers like – Work from Home, Click & Rate and Earn and so on. The police asked the people to verify properly before accepting such offers. Always verify before sharing your financial or personal details, they added. Scammers approach victims through various online social media platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, X, Instagram, and Face book by advertising fake investment app/websites. Such schemes are fraudulent and do not have SEBI’s endorsement.

Fraudsters are using simple tactics to lure gullible investors with promises of high returns and fake profit screenshots. Later, they will credit a small amount in the victim’s account to gain the victim’s confidence.   Never believe the promises of huge returns.
