Hyderabad, Sept.4 (RAHNUMA): In a significant development aimed at strengthening indigenous capabilities in the defence sector, Munitions India Limited (MIL) and Hyderabad-based Drogo Aerospace private limited have signed an MoU to collaborate on the design, development and integration of indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and loitering munition systems, giving a fresh push to India’s defence self-reliance efforts.
The MoU, signed in Pune on Friday by Drogo Aerospace Founder and CEO Yashwanth Bonthu and MIL Executive Director Kumar Vaibhav Gaur, will combine Drogo Aerospace’s UAV engineering capabilities with MIL’s expertise in ammunition, explosives and warhead technologies.
Under the partnership, Drogo Aerospace will focus on UAV platform development and manufacturing, while MIL will contribute expertise in warhead design, explosive systems, payload filling, fuzing and modular munitions.
The companies will also work on UAV-munition integration, safety evaluation, field trials, range trials and quality certification.
The collaboration follows the recent reported test of Drogo Aerospace’s indigenous Delta Wing Kamikaze UAV / loitering munition platform in Hyderabad. The company has stated that the platform is being developed for long-range defence applications, with a proposed mission range of up to 1,000 km and a warhead capacity of around 20 – 30 kg.
Yashwanth Bonthu said the partnership would strengthen the development and integration of advanced indigenous unmanned systems, while Kumar Vaibhav Gaur said the collaboration would contribute to strengthening Indian defence capabilities.
The MoU marks another step towards expanding indigenous UAV and defence manufacturing capabilities and developing advanced unmanned systems for authorised defence requirements.
