Top Diplomat in Telangana, Visits Education, Healthcare Sites with Nizam’s Grandson

(RAHNUMA) Hyderabad witnessed a significant step forward in strengthening Indo–Timor-Leste relations with high-level healthcare and academic engagements led by His Excellency Karlito Nunes, Ambassador of Timor-Leste, accompanied by Nawab Mir Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of Nizam VII Mir Osman Ali Khan.
The Ambassador visited Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where he was warmly welcomed and felicitated by Director Dr. Bheerappa. A detailed tour of the institute’s clinical and research facilities was conducted with Dr. Amaresh Rao, Head of CVTS. His Excellency lauded NIMS for its advanced medical infrastructure, compassionate patient care, and dedicated medical services, describing the visit as both insightful and inspiring. He acknowledged NIMS’ stature as a premier centre for tertiary healthcare in India.

At Osmania University, discussions with the Office of International Affairs focused on expanding admissions for Timorese students and exploring the establishment of an offshore campus in Timor-Leste. Expressing keen interest in the proposal, the Ambassador praised Osmania University’s historic legacy and academic stature. The meeting was attended by Prof. B. Vijaya, Dr. Hameed, and Dr. Akhter Ali.
The Ambassador also visited H.E.H. The Nizam’s Museum, where he was deeply impressed by the collection of gifts, souvenirs, and mementos presented by dignitaries to the Nizam VII on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee celebrations.
The Ambassador’s visit reaffirmed Hyderabad’s growing global outreach and opened new avenues for enhanced cooperation between India and Timor-Leste in the fields of education and healthcare.
